Frequently asked questions

Where is Winslow’s Catering San Francisco located?+

Our commercial kitchen and primary operations are based in Pleasanton, California. We do not operate a customer-facing storefront in San Francisco. As a mobile, service-area catering company, we prepare food at our commercial kitchen and deliver or provide full service directly at Bay Area offices, homes, and venues.

Which communities do you serve from the San Francisco website?+

We regularly cater events throughout San Francisco, Daly City, and nearby Bay Area communities. Service availability depends on the exact address, event date, guest count, and amount of staffing or equipment required. Submit the complete venue address so travel and access can be confirmed.

How much notice should I give your catering team?+

All catering bookings require at least 72 hours’ notice. Five to 14 days is helpful for many corporate deliveries and smaller events, while large or staffed events should ideally be reserved one to two months ahead. Popular weekends and holiday dates may become unavailable earlier.

Is there a minimum order for catering delivery?+

Most drop-off catering orders require at least $500 in food. Boxed-meal orders require a minimum of 25 meals, while most full-service and wedding packages begin at 25 guests. Minimums for highly customized events can vary by date and scope.

What is the easiest way to request a catering quote?+

Complete the contact form with the date, address, guest count, meal period, preferred service style, and any dietary, rental, floral, or beverage needs. You may also call 877-789-4377. Straightforward drop-off orders can often be placed directly through the online menu.

How quickly will someone respond to my inquiry?+

The team aims to respond to most complete quote requests the same business day. Complex events may require follow-up questions before accurate options can be prepared. Submitting the venue address, timeline, estimated attendance, and budget reduces unnecessary back-and-forth.

Can I ask for a proposal before the guest count is final?+

Yes. Use your best current estimate when submitting the request. The proposal can be revised as attendance becomes clearer, subject to availability and ordering deadlines. Large changes may affect food quantities, staffing, rentals, transportation, and pricing.

What details should I include about a San Francisco venue?+

Tell us about loading zones, parking garages, elevators, stairs, security desks, access codes, long walking distances, available staging space, and firm setup or cleanup windows. These logistical details can materially affect staffing, arrival time, equipment, and labor.

What is the difference between drop-off and full-service catering?+

Drop-off service brings prepared food in ready-to-serve containers, leaving the host or venue to manage presentation, monitoring, and cleanup. Full service includes professional staff, elevated serving equipment, setup, replenishment, guest service, and breakdown of the contracted catering areas.

Can I add attendants without booking a complete full-service package?+

Yes. Drop-off catering with attendants can add help with food setup, presentation, monitoring, and catering-related cleanup. It is a useful middle option for casual events that need more support than delivery but do not require formal plated or family-style service.

How do you handle dietary restrictions and food allergies?+

We offer vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free options. Include the exact number of meals needed in each category and identify specific allergens. Although the team can review appropriate selections, food is prepared in a kitchen that handles common allergens.

How much does San Francisco catering generally cost?+

Pricing depends on the menu, guest count, service style, venue access, staffing, and rentals. Drop-off catering commonly begins around $15 to $25 per person, boxed meals start at $18.75, and full-service events may begin around $45 per person and increase with the level of service and additions. A custom quote provides the most accurate total.

What is required to officially reserve an event?+

After you approve the quote, we send a catering agreement for signature. Orders over $3,000 also require a 50% deposit to secure the date. A quote or inquiry alone does not hold availability until the required agreement and payment steps are completed.

Can I revise the menu or attendance after booking?+

Yes. Guest-count and menu changes are generally accepted until 10 days before the event. After that deadline, revisions may be limited because ingredients, staffing, equipment, and production schedules have already been committed.

Are tastings available for weddings and larger events?+

Yes. Mobile tastings are available after the menu has been narrowed to a useful set of options. Tastings are complimentary for confirmed weddings and may be purchased before contract; the tasting charge can be removed from the final bill when the wedding is booked.

Do you cater weddings in San Francisco and Daly City?+

Yes. Wedding services include buffets, family-style meals, plated dinners, passed appetizers, staff, cakes, beverage service, bartenders, rentals, florals, and tablescape design. Venue access and local logistics should be reviewed early, particularly for buildings with strict load-in schedules.

Can SF Catering support recurring office meals and corporate events?+

Yes. We provide breakfast, lunch, boxed meals, hot and cold buffets, appetizer service, executive meetings, training programs, and company holiday parties. Weekly and monthly meal schedules may receive a dedicated coordinator and locked pricing.

Can one team coordinate food, bartenders, rentals, and florals?+

Yes. Catering can be combined with bartenders, coffee and tea service, tables, chairs, linens, china, glassware, buffet equipment, centerpieces, floral installations, and tablescape styling. Combining services can simplify communication, timing, delivery, and the visual presentation.

Can you cater at an office, home, rooftop, or venue without a kitchen?+

Yes. Because the food is prepared before arrival, most events do not require a commercial kitchen on site. We may still need a protected staging area, access to water or power, and a practical route from unloading to the event space. Outdoor and rooftop events should also have a weather plan.

Which payment methods and additional fees should I expect?+

Payment may be made by credit card, check, or ACH according to the terms of the order. An optional 3.45% credit-card processing fee, a 4% handling fee, and delivery charges may apply. Orders over $3,000 require a 50% deposit, and the remaining balance is due 10 days before the event.
